Our Commitment

WA PREP is committed to making its website and educational resources accessible to the widest possible audience, including people with disabilities.

Accessibility is an ongoing part of how we design, maintain, review, and improve our website. We welcome feedback from people who use different devices, browsers, assistive technologies, and methods of navigating online content.

Our Accessibility Goal

WA PREP is working toward alignment with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, or WCAG, 2.2 Level AA.

These guidelines provide a shared standard for making digital content more perceivable, operable, understandable, and compatible with different technologies.

Working toward this standard is an ongoing process. Some website features, documents, or third-party resources may not yet meet every WCAG success criterion.

Current Accessibility Features

Accessibility features currently available on the WA PREP website include:

  • A Skip to Content link on each page
  • Visible keyboard-focus indicators
  • Keyboard-operable primary navigation and dropdown menus
  • Descriptive alternative text for reviewed website images
  • Clearly labeled and grouped contact-form fields
  • Descriptive notices when links open in a new browser tab
  • Responsive layouts designed for different screen sizes
  • A supplemental accessibility widget with display and navigation tools

We are continuing to review heading structure, interactive controls, downloadable documents, link descriptions, and other website features.

Accessibility Widget

The WA PREP website includes the UserWay Accessibility Widget. The widget provides optional tools that may help visitors adjust contrast, text size, spacing, navigation, and other display settings.

The widget can be opened using the Accessibility Menu button located near the edge of the page.

UserWay is provided as a supplemental tool. It does not replace accessible website design, testing, maintenance, or direct assistance from the WA PREP team.

Known Limitations

We are aware that some content may not yet provide an equally accessible experience for every visitor.

Current limitations may include:

  • Certain topic tabs, carousel controls, and expandable FAQ sections may not be fully operable using only a keyboard or may not be clearly announced by screen readers.
  • Some PDFs and older downloadable documents may not include complete accessibility tagging, headings, reading order, or alternative descriptions.
  • Some linked resources are hosted and maintained by other organizations. Their accessibility may vary and is outside WA PREP’s direct control.
  • External services, including Mailchimp and the Cardea Training Center, have their own accessibility features and support processes.

WA PREP is continuing to identify and address barriers within the content and features it controls.

Requesting Assistance or an Alternative Format

If you cannot access a webpage, form, PDF, training resource, or other content, please contact the WA PREP team.

We will review the issue and work with you to provide the information or assistance in another accessible format when reasonably possible.

When contacting us, please include:

  • The webpage, document, or resource you were trying to access
  • A brief description of the barrier you encountered
  • The browser, device, or assistive technology you were using, if you are comfortable sharing it
  • The format or type of assistance you need
  • Your preferred method of contact

You do not need to provide disability or medical information to request accessibility assistance.

Reporting an Accessibility Barrier

When using the contact form, select “Report a website, download, or accessibility issue.”

Third-Party Content

The WA PREP website links to training platforms, government websites, educational resources, surveys, and other content maintained by third parties.

WA PREP cannot guarantee the accessibility of content it does not operate. If an external resource creates a barrier, contact us and we will try to help identify an alternative way to access the information.

Ongoing Improvement

Accessibility is not a one-time project. WA PREP will continue reviewing its website, addressing identified barriers, and considering accessibility when creating or updating digital content.

This statement will be updated as the website, its accessibility practices, or known limitations change.
