Youth Voices Statewide
More than 213,000 Washington students in grades 6–12 participated in the 2025 Healthy Youth Survey, with students from all 39 counties represented.
Prevention Information Still Matters
Among students who reported having had sex and answered the prevention question, 22% of 10th graders and 18% of 12th graders said no pregnancy or sexually transmitted infection prevention method was used the last time they had sex.
Healthy Relationships Need Support
Among students who dated during the previous year, 9% of 8th graders, 11% of 10th graders, and 14% of 12th graders said a dating partner limited them, threatened them, or made them feel unsafe.

Important context:
The survey is voluntary and anonymous. Sexual-behavior questions are optional, so results are based on participating schools and students who received and answered those questions.
Using Data Responsibly
These findings provide statewide context, but they do not describe every young person or community.
Survey participation, access to care, testing, reporting practices, and other factors can affect the numbers. Statewide trends also do not measure the impact of WA PREP services on their own.
Data should help start thoughtful conversations—not turn young people into a stack of statistics.
